The
Nigerian Community in Hampton Roads of Virginia, celebrates Nigeria's
Independence in October every year.This event includes symposium,seminars
and cultural activities to promote a positive image of Nigeria.

Cultural Heritage Celebration
Nigeria's culture our pride,is celebrated
yearly to promote and showcase the diversity of our culture and people.It
includes the display of our artifacts,traditional dance,fashion show,
Nigerian food and folklore.
Children's Picnic
This an annual event
that takes place on the second Saturday of August every year to honor
our kids before the next school year begins. The goal is to instill
our cultural heritage on our children.
This event includes various
activities,games,story telling,food,dancing and awards.
Christmas
Gala
NWAHRVA celebrates the Christmas with family and friends, party
usually starts at night at a major hotel ballroom.This is an event
you don't want to miss. Check for time of the event.

Nigeria has abundant physical attractions ranging
from hills, waterfalls, springs, lakes and mountains across the length
and breadth of the Country.The cultural assests of Nigeria are among
the most fascinating in Africa.
Nigerian sports, though always exercised, was noted first in
the 1950s. Nigeria had it's first appearance in the Helsinki Olympic
Games in 1952, and it's first victory in 1954, when Emmanuel Ifeanjuna
won a gold medal in the high jump at the Commonwealth games in Cardiff.
In 1962, the Nationals Sports Council was set up, and in 1971, the
National Sports Commission.
